Toshiba Seiya Classic Series 5.0kW Reverse Cycle Split System — Open-Plan Living Without the Premium Price

The 5.0kW Seiya is our most popular choice for open-plan Brisbane living areas of around 45–50 square metres. It delivers the airflow needed to move conditioned air across a combined kitchen, living and dining space, while the inverter compressor keeps power consumption reasonable through a long summer.

Sizing guidance

This capacity suits open-plan living and dining of roughly 45–50m2 with standard 2.4m ceilings and average insulation. Deduct capacity for a well-shaded southern room; add capacity — step up to 6.0kW — for raked ceilings, extensive glazing, west-facing walls or a space that opens to a hallway and stairwell.

Why it works in Queensland homes

Open-plan Queensland homes are the hardest spaces to cool well, because the volume of air is large and heat gain comes from every direction. Undersizing here is the single most common mistake we correct. The 5.0kW Seiya, correctly positioned to throw air down the long axis of the room, provides genuine whole-of-living-area comfort at a fraction of the cost of a ducted system.
