Carrier invented modern air conditioning, and its reputation in Australia is built on solid, hard-working ducted and packaged systems as much as on residential splits. Our licensed technicians install, repair and service the full Carrier range — splits, ducted, cassettes and light commercial — across Brisbane, Logan, Ipswich, Redlands and Moreton Bay.

Carrier installation in Brisbane
- Free on-site assessment and heat-load sizing — room-by-room calculation covering ceiling height, glazing, insulation, orientation and Brisbane design conditions.
- Wall split installation — Pearl and Allure series inverter splits, back-to-back or extended pipe runs, wall brackets or ground pads with anti-vibration mounts.
- Ducted installation and zoning — ceiling-space inverter ducted units, insulated flexible ductwork, motorised zone dampers, controller placement and roof-space access planning for older Queenslanders.
- Multi-split installation for townhouses, apartments and homes with tight side setbacks.
- Cassettes, bulkhead and ceiling-suspended units for offices, shops, clinics and childcare centres.
- Light commercial — packaged rooftop units, ducted splits and VRF for retail, warehouses and offices.
- Electrical works — dedicated circuit, isolator, switchboard assessment and a compliance certificate at handover.
- Wi-Fi and controller setup — app pairing (where supported) and a full walkthrough of zoning and scheduling.
- Old system removal with legal refrigerant recovery.
Carrier repairs
Faults we see most often
- Not cooling or barely cooling — refrigerant leak, dirty coil, failed capacitor, contactor or compressor
- Water dripping from the indoor unit or through the ceiling — blocked condensate drain, cracked tray, failed drain pump
- Wall controller or display showing a fault code and the system locking out
- Ducted zones not getting airflow — failed zone motor, stuck damper, disconnected or collapsed flexible duct
- Outdoor or packaged unit not starting — contactor, capacitor, fan motor, control board
- Compressor short-cycling or tripping the circuit breaker
- Loud vibration, duct rumble or noisy indoor fan bearing
- Musty mould odour through the vents
- Control board and PCB damage after storms and power surges
How Carrier reports faults
Carrier residential splits typically flash the operation or timer LED, or display a two-character code (for example a P- or E- prefixed code) on the indoor unit or wall controller. Ducted and packaged units usually show an alphanumeric code on the wall controller. Codes generally indicate thermistor/sensor faults, indoor–outdoor communication loss, high or low pressure trips, compressor protection, fan motor faults or drain-level trips.
Because Carrier’s code sets differ between residential split platforms and light commercial units, and between model years, we read the code on site against the correct service manual rather than working from a generic list.
If the system is locking out on a high-pressure or compressor-protection fault, switch it off at the isolator and book a technician. Repeated trips cause real compressor damage.
Carrier servicing and maintenance
Carrier ducted and packaged systems reward regular servicing — they move a lot of air and accumulate dust quickly, and warranty terms expect reasonable maintenance.
- Return-air and indoor filter clean or replacement
- Indoor coil and blower assembly clean (chemical clean where required)
- Drain tray flush, drain line clear, drain pump test and antibacterial treatment
- Outdoor or packaged condenser coil wash and fin comb — essential on the bayside where salt corrodes coils
- Refrigerant pressure, superheat and subcooling checks, plus leak inspection
- Electrical testing — amp draw, capacitors, contactors, terminal tightness
- Airflow, static pressure and temperature-split verification
- Zone motor and damper operation test, duct joint, plenum and insulation inspection
- Controller settings and sensor calibration check
- Written condition report with photos and recommendations
Frequency: every 12 months for splits and residential ducted; every 6 months for commercial, coastal or high-dust sites.
Carrier models and ranges we support
- Wall splits — Pearl series and Allure series inverter splits, plus earlier Carrier residential split ranges
- Ducted — inverter ducted systems with zoning, plus low-profile bulkhead units
- Multi-split — multi-head outdoor units with mixed indoor combinations
- Cassettes — 4-way and compact ceiling cassettes
- Ceiling-suspended and floor consoles for retail and commercial fit-outs
- Packaged units — rooftop and ground-mounted packaged air conditioners for light commercial sites
- Light commercial and VRF — Carrier VRF systems and chilled-water fan coil units (service and repair; design by arrangement)
- Controls — wireless remotes, wired wall controllers, zone controllers and BMS interfaces
Carrier is well supported in Australia through its distribution network, so parts for older ducted and packaged units are usually obtainable. Where a component is obsolete, we’ll advise honestly on repair versus replacement.
Carrier FAQs
Is Carrier a good brand in Australia?
Yes — Carrier’s strength is durable ducted and packaged equipment, and it’s very widely used in Australian commercial buildings. Residential splits are competitive on price and performance. For whole-home ducted work we’ll usually quote Carrier alongside one other brand so you can compare capacity, controls and price directly.
What warranty do Carrier systems carry?
Carrier residential systems in Australia generally carry a 5-year parts and labour warranty when installed by a licensed installer and registered with Carrier; light commercial equipment has different terms. We register every system we install and provide the documentation. Warranty requires reasonable maintenance and excludes blocked drains, storm damage and power surges.
What size Carrier unit do I need?
Guide only: 2.5 kW for a bedroom to about 20 m², 3.5 kW for 20–30 m², 5.0–6.0 kW for living areas to 45 m², 7.1–8.0 kW for large open-plan. For ducted we calculate total load room by room, because zoning lets us install less total capacity than the sum of every room. We always confirm on site.
Can you service a Carrier system you didn’t install?
Yes — we service and repair all Carrier equipment regardless of who installed it, including systems inherited with a property. Bring us the model and serial numbers from the outdoor unit and we can advise on parts availability before we attend.
Can you repair commercial Carrier packaged units?
Yes — we service and repair rooftop and ground-mounted packaged units, cassettes and fan coil systems for offices, retail, warehouses and body corporate sites, including scheduled maintenance agreements with reporting.
Why is water coming from my ducted Carrier system?
Usually a blocked condensate drain or failed drain pump on the ceiling-space unit — the most common ducted emergency during Brisbane summers, and it can damage plasterboard quickly. Turn the system off at the isolator and call us.
Can I add zones or upgrade the controller?
Often yes, if the indoor unit has spare capacity and the duct layout allows. We can add motorised dampers, extra outlets and upgraded controls, after checking static pressure and airflow so the additions don’t starve the system.
How long does a Carrier system last?
Residential splits typically 10–15 years; ducted and packaged units often 15–20 years with regular servicing. Coastal and bayside installations need an annual condenser wash and corrosion treatment to reach the upper end.
